Dayton Poetry Slam
Time & Location
About the Event
It's that time of year again, it's cover slam time! How does the cover slam work, you ask? Well, let's get that ... well ... covered.
Take all your standard slam rules, no props, no costumes, and a time limit of three minutes and ten seconds and hang on to them. The only change, you've got to read material you didn't write. It can be a poem you like by a poet you admire, a poem you like by a poet you're friends with, song lyrics you like, the menu you stole from Denny's before they closed down, or even the phone book. You can edit any of these for time and make minor content changes if you feel you need to.
Please Note - While we typically start the clock on your slam piece when you engage the audience, you will be given the opportunity to give the artist and title of what your're reading before we start the clock.
What's that? You wrote a kick ass original piece this week and want to share some new shit with us? Fear not purveyor of original material, for we have the much loved open mic round going before we have the cover slam.
All this is available to you for the ever so reasonable amount of just $2.
